Share your page: The Winner!

After two months of actively promoting and sharing ZEEF pages there is one final winner. But before we announce the winner we do have to say a few things. The reason for doing this competition was to encourage people to create quality pages since we believe that those pages will be shared more often compared to bad quality pages. Giving away an iPad retina should be a good stimulus to work hard and create a beautiful ZEEF page. We found out that the competition resulted into two types of activities. One group started creating pages and invested heavily in creating a high quality ZEEF page. The other group of people invested heavily in promoting their ZEEF page among their friends and on social media. The latter did generate the most exposure for ZEEF but we do prefer the first group that was actively creating a qualitative ZEEF page. Next, we learned that there is a minimal relation between the number of shares a page has received and the quality of the page. So the numbers do not tell you as a consumer if the content is really good. So sharing is not a good index for quality pages especially with incentive like winning an Ipad.

The winner of the competition has the most shares but if we look at the number of click out or visitors the page has received it is very low. As a matter of fact the winner has actually the lowest Click Through Ratio of all other pages. This shows us that advertising on social media like Facebook does not convert to people really clicking on to the shared link.

With that being said we’re happy to announce that Niels Plekkenpol is the winner of the iPad competition! Niels’ page Asus.ZEEF.com received a total of 1.613 shares between the 1st of December 2013 and 31st of January 2014. Congratulations! We would also like to thank him for actively promoting ZEEF among his friends and increasing our brand awareness.

Our runner up was Lucian Duma with a total of 403 shares with his page ContentCuration.ZEEF.com. The third one in place is Robin Good with his content-discovery-tools.zeef.com page. His page received a total of 349 shares. Below you will find an overview of all the statistics of the top 10 shared ZEEF pages.

Now some closing thoughts. Because our platform is about expert ranking we think that Robin Good is the actual winner. We added our ZEEF ranking to the column to show you our expert opinion on which page has the best quality. This example shows that human knowledge is capable of ranking content. Even though we liked the promotion of the Asus page we do believe that Robin Good has created the highest quality ZEEF page. Looking at the statistics you can see that both of his ZEEF pages have a high number of views and a pretty good click through ratio. We like to thank Robin Good for his effort and we hope he will create more quality pages in the future!

We apologize due to technical problems it was not clear how many shares a page received. Using other tools we were able to determine the actual number of shares of a page. By providing a spreadsheet with all the number of shares we tried to increase the transparency of the competition.
