ZEEF Widget outperforms Google AdSense by 15 times in clicks
The ZEEF Widget is a new advertising model for publishers. Test results show that a ZEEF Widget can receive up to 15 times more clicks compared to Google AdSense. The performance of the ZEEF widget is so high because:
- The links are carefully selected by an expert
- High relevance between content and the advertisement
- Customizable widget to match look and feel of website
- The publisher has the power of optimizing the widget
A ZEEF Widget is composed out of affiliate links or Pay Per Click links and can be embedded into any website. The Widgets are usually top lists and are automatically updated based on conversion metrics that the system collects from all publishers that are using the Widgets. Using this crowd-sourced method of collecting metrics, we can offer every publisher the highest conversion possible.
As opposed to Google AdSense, publishers are able to select the type of advertisers they would like to display. By doing this the publisher is able to match advertisers with the content they are publishing. We believe that this new form of curation advertising will result in higher conversion ratios compared to traditional advertising.
ZEEF development will focus on improving the Widget by:
- Making it more customizable
- Making it easier to create and embed
- Enabling rotation of Widgets
In order to prove our assumptions, we created a test case with the website balusc.blogspot.com. AdSense received a total of 41 clicks and the widget a total of 603 clicks. This means that the Widget receives about 15 times more clicks compared to Google AdSense. Below you will find the results from the test case which shows a good comparison between Google AdSense and the ZEEF widget.

Difference: 603/41 = 14,7 times and we made 25% more revenue in total.
As you can see this ZEEF Widget receives an average of 15 times more clicks compared to Google AdSense when looking at the JSF book Widget compared to AdSense. In some cases this number was even higher. In January, AdSense received a click through ratio (CTR) of 0.04% while the ZEEF Widget for JSF books received a CTR of nearly 0.77%. That is an increase of almost 20 times.
The results show that the better the content matches the advertisers, the higher the click through ratio will be. This is because the curator selects the block that matches the content and the advertisements are complementary to the blog. For example, the JSF books are complementary to the blog about JSF. Although AdSense might be faster to implement than curated advertisement, the latter brings a higher return on investment (ROI) and more relevant information for users.
